Recent News

It's been a few weeks since we reported on Clint, that has been because with all your prayers and faith, he has been doing very well and is in remission. Again, this is been a blessing to be this far along in the curing process as opposed to normal four phase treatment of Chemo lasting up to two year's.

However, we have hit a "Hot Spot" (active leukemia cells) that have raised it's ugly head. About 10 days ago, Clint started to have a numbness and loss of strength in his right side (neck, and arm) then moving down into his legs. His initial thought was a pinched nerve due to his starting to do some minor Physical Therapy. A few days later he reported the numbness to his Doctor who immediately started looking and doing all sorts of tests. After many tests at the Huntsman Clinic, it was diagnosed that there was a "Hot Spot" on the nerve ending that was causing the pain and loss of strength / motion. The Doc told us that it was not uncommon for patients with (ALL) who are in remission to have "Hot Spots". The (ALL) cells seem to hide-out in the nervous system of the body, making it very difficult to be detected. Today Clint had a treatment of direct radiation on the nerve endings with a follow-up treatment scheduled for Saturday and Monday.

On Thursday, he had an additional Lumbar Puncture to check for cancer cells. At the same time, they inserted Chemo into the spinal column to destroy any that maybe detected. Again, a "Hot Spot" was detected in the spinal column so he will have another Lumbar Puncture on Wednesday to ensure all cancer cells are eliminated.

As you can only imagine, this has been a very very stressful period for Clint and all of us. However, his Docs remains very positive and wants Clint and all who are supporting him to remain the same as we continue to prepare for the Bone Marrow Transplant, tentatively scheduled to begin (day 0) on 13 July 2009.

This is really a rollercoaster ride, we have been on. We have had the blessing of being on top of the ride, not going down to the bottom. Again we solicit your continued faith and prayers, we really believe Clint will beat this ugly cancer in the long run, we just need all of your support to make it through the bumps in the road.

This is very stressful for Clint, so I would ask all of you to continue to remember Clint and his family in the weeks to come that he will have the positive mental attitude to continue to move forward.

Keep up those prayers and love for Clint. It really does work.

On behalf of the Layton family, Thank you for your donations and continued prayers and support.
